The fall of a hero; "Gifted with Cancer"

Image
By: A.A. Suleiman I was astonished to see the reactions of people over the passing away of Ali Banat Wiki, 33. I initially thought the Australian was a renowned model, an athlete or an influential prince in the Arabian Peninsula, but to my surprise, i realized that he was just a modest business man in Sydney. Ali Banat, a very classic and highly intelligent young man, who owns a successful enterprise in his name, a mansion in Sydney, a garage of Ferraris, wears the most expensive designers, and bangles worthing about 60,000 USD. The saddest story began in 2015 when the youngman was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, Cancer and his doctors gave him an ultimatum of not morethan 7 months to survive, It was uneasy for the young Ali to comprehend the heartbreaking news as he was at the apex of his youthful age coupled with his affluent life style. Ali was able to survive 3 more years away from his earlier death ultimatum, until 29th May, 2018, he paid off the price in this bl...

The ban on NaijaBet in Borno state

Image
By: A.A. Suleiman, Gov. Kashim Shettima has declared a ban on the activities of NaijaBet in the state, he according to his Aides went further give the operators a 2-weeks ultimatum to evacuate the state. The major patronizers of the NAIJABET are predominantly the Youths and other fans of football. This declaration most have been informed by the culture and the tradition of the Borno State people which prohits them from partaking in any form of gambling, and it seems the NAIJABET brings gambling to the doorstep of the people. Now, you hardly cannot find a betting point in almost all the major streets of Maiduguri. It's against this background that the declaration has received the commendations of eminent sons and personalities in the state. But however, the NAIJABET is a registered entity of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and their activities are empowered and regulated by the National Lottery Regulatory Act of 2005. I hope Gov. Shettima's declaration will not ...

Image
By: A.A. Suleiman Remains of the deceased Humaniterian arriving Maiduguri The terror attack at Rann which claimed the lives of Humanitarian aid workers, security personals, innocent civilians IDPs and also the abduction of people in the local area left so much questions in the minds of an average Nigerians with regards to the technical defeat of the Boko Haram insurgents. Rann, a town situated in the Kala-Balge local Government area of Borno state with an averagely estimated distance of about 200km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. The IDP camp have been estimated to be sheltering about 60,000 (Sixty thousand) IDPs who are direly in need of humanitarian aids. Prior to the Boko Haram insurgency, Rann and Kala-Balge people have suffered from the lack of social services (Water, Health care, schools, transportation etc), people from the areas are leaving in an abject poverty, and have often complained on the lack of the presence of both the state and the federal gov...

Dialogue: A means to lasting and sustainable peace

Image
By: A.A. Suleiman From the onset, when the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), brokered the negotiations that lead to the release of Chibok girls who were held captive by the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) for more than 3years. I celebrated with the abductees, their parents, Chibok community and Borno state people as a whole for the reunion of the innocent girls with their loved ones. But however, i was thoughtful that the kidnapping business would be the most interesting venture for the BHT to dive in, in continuing their quest for reinforcement, the release of the girls most be in exchange of a handsome ransom, which might likely be; an exchange with frontline combatant, or a huge amount of money, or the withdrawal of military might in certain areas of BHT stronghold. ICRC as a neutral entity is playing its roles in the most professional way, thereby gaining the trust of both the government and as well the insurgent group. Infact, ICRC would recieve a merit a...
