NECSOB's ANNUAL CONGRESS MEETING

The Network of Civil Soceity Organizations, NECSOB Borno State, has just concluded its annual congress meeting, top on the event is the Mapping of CSOs by the Presidential Committee of the Northeast Initiative (PCNI), dignitries in attendance includes the United Nations Deputy Humianitarian  Coordinator and Head of office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Northeast, Mr. Caeser, the representatives of United Nations Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), INGO forum and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) among others.

About 150 registered CSOs under the auspices of NECSOB participated actively and engaged robustly on issues relating to the humanitarian challenges, returns, coordination and host of others critical issues, the members acknowledged the efforts of the NECSOB's leadership for their well done job and their continued aspirations in leaving up to the desired expectations, the members further challenged them to do more as the NE is gradually moving out of the humanitarian challenges into the development nexus.

In his remark, the Executive Director, Amb. Ahmed Shehu appreciated the entire members of the NETWORK for the unequivocal support and confidence bestowed not only on him but the the entire members of the executives, similarly, Amb. Ahmed gave a presentations on the successes and achievement of NECSOB and emphasized on the need to continue coming together and collectively overcome the emerging challenges.

Also in his remark, the Ag. DHCT, Mr. Caeser, thanked the local and international NGOs towards contributing their quota meaningfully, He stressed the commitments and the desires of INGOs and the UN agencies to partner with the locals towards the achievements of more results and as well the localization of interventions.

The congress meeting was full of engaging sessions which accorded the community of CSOs to chat a developmental roadmap for NECSOB and as well the Borno state as a whole, putting in mind critical issues like; return, coordination, empowerments, health & nutrition, education, food security & livelihood, security, peace & good governance, etcetera.

A communique was issued at the end of the Congress meeting which requested among others the beefing-up of security in soft target areas within Maiduguri and around areas like Dalori IDP camp and muna axis.
